Chloride Compliance in Santa Clarita Valley – Facilities Plan and Notice of Preparation (NOP)
To comply with Federal and State laws that protect the Santa Clara River, the Santa Clarita Valley Sanitation District is preparing plans for public review on the environmentally sound and cost-effective methods for removing chloride from the treated wastewater that the Sanitation District discharges into the river from its treatment plants.

Sewer Connection Permits & Sewer Plan Review
The Sanitation Districts issue Trunk Sewer Connection Permits for the direct connection of 6-inch diameter or smaller private sewer laterals to Sanitation Districts' trunk sewers. The Sanitation Districts also review sewer plans for private developments or public (e.g., City) improvement projects involving construction of 8-inch diameter or larger sewers that connect directly or indirectly to the Sanitation Districts' sewer system in the public right-of-way. Projects that involve construction within a Sanitation Districts’ easement require a “buildover” proposal. Service Charge Program
The Sanitation Districts collect annual user charges to pay for the operation and maintenance of the Districts’ wastewater management system. These charges are collected via the Service Charge Program for residential and commercial customers and via the Industrial Wastewater Surcharge Program for industrial waste dischargers.

Annexation Program
If your property is located outside the jurisdictional boundaries of a County Sanitation District and you would like to obtain sewerage service from the Sanitation Districts, your property needs to be annexed to the Sanitation Districts. Build Over Procedures
The Districts do not encourage the building of improvements over sewer easements as such encroachments may result in limited access or damage to the underlying sewers. Click on the link above to read more on the Sanitation Districts’ procedure for processing buildover requests.

The Will Serve Program provides information on available trunk sewer and treatment plant capacities for proposed development projects within the Sanitation Districts' service area.

Water Reuse Program
Each day, the Sanitation Districts deliver clean, recycled water as an important local resource to residents and businesses. This resource is a safe, affordable, and reliable supply of water for industrial, commercial, and recreational applications; groundwater replenishment; agriculture; and the irrigation of parks, schools, golf courses, roadways, and nurseries.
