Los Angeles County Sanitation Districts
Home MenuTours Program
Come see how the Sanitation Districts protect public health and the environment by converting your wastewater into recycled water or by managing your solid waste.
We offer two types of tours: Group Tours and Public Tours.
- Group Tours are generally provided to schools, clubs, organizations, and other groups of ten or more people. These tours are scheduled Monday through Friday, during regular business hours and require a reservation at least three weeks in advance.
- If you are a school, please visit our School Tour Program for additional information.
- Public Tours are held throughout the year on selected Saturdays. We welcome individuals and smaller groups. A list of public tours offered this year are below.
All tours last approximately 1 to 2 hours, depending on the facility you are touring. We welcome both adults and children of at least 10 years of age. Please read our Tour Safety Guidelines below for more information.
To schedule your Group Tour, fill out a Tour Request Form and email it to Julie Patino at juliepatino@lacsd.org. To reserve your spot for a Public Tour or for more information, contact Julie at (562) 908-4288, extension 2300, or via email.

Tour Safety Guidelines
If you are taking a tour of the Sanitation Districts' facilities, please note the following safety rules:
- Wear proper shoes (no heels, sandals or other open-toed shoes).
- Do not run or horseplay.
- Do not touch equipment, push buttons, or go beyond any type of barriers (cones, warning tape, saw-horses, etc.)
- Remain with the group. Do not leave the group to explore other areas.
- Do not sit, lean, or climb on rails.
- Do not walk on aluminum or fiberglass covers on tanks. This does not include tread plates or grates (these are safe to walk on).
- Wash your hands after visiting the plant, especially prior to eating.
If a tour group is not cooperating with the tour guide and not following the safety rules, we will end the tour.
