The purpose of the Puente Hills Materials Recovery Facility (MRF) is to provide waste diversion and publicly-owned transfer capacity. This facility will help jurisdictions meet the diversion requirements under California law. Load requirements at the Puente Hills MRF support the diversion goals.

Types of Waste Accepted

A variety of different types of waste and recyclables are accepted, including:

  • Residential waste
  • Commercial waste
  • Industrial waste
  • Construction and demolition waste
  • Food Waste*
  • Green Waste*
  • Commingled Recyclables (through Athens Services www.athensservices.com)

*Diversion credit available

Unacceptable Material That Will Be Rejected

  • solid waste loadWhole tires from motorcycles, cars and trucks
  • Liquid Waste (exceptions may be granted for preapproved food waste) 
  • Hazardous materials, chemicals, or paint
  • Salt/brine, detergents
  • Sandblasting sand, fly ash and all special wastes
  • Used oil or material contaminated with oil
  • Treated wood waste
  • Non-hazardous wastes containing asbestos
  • Pharmaceutical (medicines)
  • E-waste

Procedure for Using the Puente Hills MRF

Puente Hills Landfill entranceTrucks enter using the Puente Hills Landfill entrance at 13130 Crossroads Parkway South and follow the signs to the Puente Hills MRF.

All loads will be inspected at the facility by Sanitation Districts' personnel. Maximum unloading time is 30 minutes.
