Renewable Energy Alternative Fuels
The A.K. Warren Water Resource Facility compressed natural gas (CNG) fueling facility provides an alternative fueling option for local municipal and commercial customers as well as the general public. The facility is equipped with dual 300 scfm compressors and two dual-hose dispensers. Clean Energy operates the station and supplies renewable natural gas (RNG) for all fuel dispensed.
- It is a self-service station that is open 24-hours a day.
- Purchases are by credit card only.
- Its location affords convenient access to the 110 and 405 freeways.
In 2020, the Sanitation Districts will begin to supply clean RNG or biogas from the Warren Facility to the station. Such RNG is derived from the Food Waste Recycling Program at the Warren Facility and cleaned via a state-of-the-art biogas conditioning system. Looking ahead, the Sanitation Districts will revamp this station to increase capacity and improve accessibility.

- Open to public
- Used by taxis, local buses, & individuals
- Fuels Districts’ vehicles
Benefits
Natural gas benefits the environment because it burns cleaner compared to gasoline or diesel and results in lower greenhouse gas emissions. The use of RNG further reduces carbon intensity of the fuel relative to CNG. Natural gas also provides cost savings to the Sanitation Districts since its price is lower and more stable relative to gasoline or diesel.
