Approximately 265 million gallons per day of treated wastewater from the A.K. Warren Water Resource Facility are discharged to the Pacific Ocean offshore of White Point on the Palos Verdes Peninsula. The effluent is conveyed through two continuously operated ocean outfall pipes extending 1.5 miles offshore to a water depth of approximately 200 feet.

In addition to these outfalls, two smaller and older outfalls are held in reserve for hydraulic relief during periods of extremely high flow. The Sanitation Districts inspect the four outfalls annually using a remotely operated vehicle (ROV) and SCUBA divers. The concrete pipes, joints, end structures/termini, diffuser ports, and ballast rock on the outfalls are inspected to assure they appear to be in good operational condition for their designed purpose.
