Los Angeles County Sanitation Districts
Home MenuDistrict 18 Sewer Repair #5507
What is this project?
This project involves repairing approximately 20,600 feet of sewer in Whittier. The Districts will rehabilitate the sewer with a pipe lining system, which can be installed inside the old pipe. Repairing by lining will be less disruptive and is quicker than building a new sewer. The Districts will also repair manholes associated with this sewer.
Why is this project needed?
The existing sewer pipe is over 50 years old and has deteriorated over time due to normal wear and age.
Where is the work taking place?
Construction will take place mostly on Santa Fe Springs Road, Whittier Boulevard, Lanning Drive, Maryknoll Avenue, Mulberry Drive, Calmada Avenue, Light Street, Mills Avenue, Trumball Street, Victoria Avenue and the LA County Flood Control Channel (Leffingwell Creek). All construction lies within City of Whittier and Unincorporated South Whittier as shown on the map in blue.
When is the project scheduled?
Construction is scheduled from July 2023 to January 2024. The Districts have selected Sancon Technologies Inc. as the contractor, and they will provide residents additional notice for working days and hours, and any possible disruption to your service.
What can you expect?
While some inconveniences are inevitable, the contractor will make every effort to minimize any inconvenience. For your safety, the Districts recommend the public, and especially children, to stay away from the construction zone. To minimize traffic impacts, portions of this work in the following areas will be completed at night: Santa Fe Springs Road near Whittier Boulevard and Calmada Avenue near Whittier Boulevard.
Your understanding and cooperation regarding this vital project are greatly appreciated.
