Exhibits Describing Chloride Issues and Potential Options
UNDERSTANDING THE CHLORIDE PROBLEM IN THE SANTA CLARITA VALLEY
Due to strict federal and state requirements, the Santa Clarita Valley Sanitation District must either develop a plan to reduce the chloride content of the wastewater it discharges to the Santa Clara River or face steep fines that property owners would have to pay.
The following illustrations and charts explain why chloride in our treated wastewater is a problem and what can be done about it.
