The Sanitation Districts and its partner, the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California, recently hosted a groundbreaking ceremony at the Sanitation Districts' Joint Water Pollution Control Plant in the City of Carson for a demonstration water purification facility that could lead to the largest water recycling project in the country. The Santa Clarita Valley Sanitation District certified a Final Recirculated Environmental Impact Report that evaluates the environmental impacts of the Chloride Compliance Project, and the impacts of independently pursuing a Chloride Compliance Project and a Recycled Water Project. This action addresses a Court requirement and is the next step in complying with a State-mandated limit on the maximum amount of chloride (salt) in treated wastewater discharged to the Santa Clara River.
